It can often be said that technicians are the backbone of the veterinary clinic. They spend their days (and nights) in the trenches and see little of the glamour of veterinary medicine – if there is such a thing. With Fear Free certifications blossoming around the country (and world), it’s important to understand how technicians play a role in the Fear Free process. In this podcast, hear firsthand from two leading Fear Free certified technicians, Emily Korber and Tabitha Sias Kucera, talk about the role technicians play in Fear Free.

In only months since launching, Fear Free certifications have been growing tremendously. As of this recording, more than 700 veterinary professionals have become certified and more than 3,200 have registered and are in the process of becoming certified. But it’s not just about the numbers. Fear Free is about looking out for our best friends, and nobody appreciates that more than their owners. In this podcast, through the lens of a client named Alex Patinios (our first featured client on a podcast ever) and his dog Dakota’s experience with Dr. Bloom, we get to hear what Fear Free means from a client’s perspective. This is a powerful case study that shows just how impactful Fear Free can be for the people and animals that the veterinary industry is dedicated to serving.

When it comes to creating a successful Fear Free visit, scheduling can be a very important factor. In this podcast, we cover everything from what and how you communicate to a client prior to the visit, how you keep track of their emotional health and history in the emotional record, and what to do if a stressed out patient needs to reschedule.

Becoming Fear Free certified is certainly an accomplishment, but it doesn’t stop there. Seeing the benefits of how you implement Fear Free theories, techniques and strategies into your practice takes more than just a certificate. This introductory Episode Zero in our highly anticipated series of podcasts is the precursor to a series of monthly podcast discussions featuring certified Fear Free professionals that are on the forefront of Fear Free. With real world examples, advice, insights and more, this series will help put your certification into action.
